Hey all, today i am going to review this wonderful ale by Shepherds Neame. 1698 Bottle Conditioned Ale. Thrice-hopped and bottle conditioned, 6.5% ABV 1698 is the connoisseur’s choice, a beer to be savoured. Originally brewed to celebrate their tercentenary, 1698 was a silver medal winner in the Taste of Britain Awards, was included in the International Beer Challenge’s World’s Top 50 Beers and has won a Gold Award from the British Bottlers’ Institute.

ABV : 6.5%
Looks : Very clear amber colour with good carbonation. Pours well and has a slight off-white foam head.
Aroma : Rich sweet malts with hints of caramel, roasted grain, slightly fruity maybe plum and stewed hops.
Flavour : Sweet malts with notes of caramel, brown sugar, fruity maybe plums, yeast and a nice hoppy bitterness.
Finish : Sharp finish with malty tones and stewed hop flavour.
Rating : 8 out of 10
Once again another excellent beer by Shepherd Neame. Really looking forward to reviewing the rest of their range. This ale is widely available through supermarkets in the UK and online stores.
