Beer 14 - Black Sheep Brewery, Monty Python's Holy Grail

Hey all, tonight I am going to review Black Sheep Breweries, Monty Python’s Holy Grail. I have been waiting patiently to crack this beer open. This ale was specially commissioned to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Monty Python in 1999. It is described as a full - flavoured golden ale with a distinctly fruity flavour.
Black Sheep Brewery, Monty Python’s Holy Grail
ABV : 4.7%

Looks : This beer pours with a golden copper colour with medium carbonation. It has a small, tightly bubbled, one finger, white head

Aroma : This beer has a weird musty smell with sweet caramel malts and roasted grain. There is a strong aroma of spicy, earthy hops. A tinge of citrus is present possibly grapefruit and lemon.

Flavour : There is a moist bready taste with strong, malty, caramel characters underpinned with a nice spicy hoppiness. There is also a watery grassy graininess to this ale.

Finish : A dry bitterness with a burst of lemon fruitiness on the palate

Rating : 6.5 out of 10

This beer is different from any other golden ale I have tried with a strange musty, grassy smell to it. I haven’t really seen this ale in many shops but it can be purchased direct from the brewery http://www.blacksheepbrewery.com/shop/holy-grail.html
