Beer 10 - Samuel Smith's, The Famous Taddy Porter

Hey all, today i am going to review “The Famous Taddy Porter by Samuel Smiths Brewery. Really looking forward to this porter as it is the first Samuel Smiths beer i have had. This beer is courtesy of “Beers Of Europe”
Samuel Smiths – The Famous Taddy Porter
ABV : 5.0%

Looks : Deep dark brown with moderate carbonation, with a  finger and a half of tanned white head.

Aroma : First smell that hits you has to be the burnt toffee, mixed with sweet dark dry fruits, possibly red grapes or over ripened plums. There is definitely a coffee aroma enhanced by dark chocolate with  smokey toasted malt characters.

Flavour : What a fantastic smokey malt, dark chocolate bitterness, followed by hints of dark fruits, possibly raisins and a light creamy sweetness

Finish : Smokey and malty with a lasting dark chocolate bitterness.

Rating : 9.5 out of 10

What an outstanding porter with lots of robust flavours going on. The smokiness  isn’t to over powering but is well complemented by the dark fruits and the bitterness of the chocolate. A really good example of a typical English Porter.
